RYA Day Skipper
Your introduction to skippering a yacht

The RYA Day Skipper practical course teaches the basic practical skippering techniques to enable you to feel confident as a Skipper. You will need some sailing experience and a basic knowledge of theory and navigation up to RYA Day Skipper shore based level. Completion of a RYA Day Skipper shore based course beforehand will greatly enhance the value of the Day Skipper practical course. By the end of this course the successful RYA Day Skipper will be able to undertake short coastal passages by day. Holders of the Day Skipper practical certificate can gain an International Certificate of Competence (ICC) without any further assessment.
Pre-course experience: 5 days, 100 nautical miles and 4 night hours on board a cruising yacht.
Assumed theoretical knowledge: Material in the Day Skipper Shorebased course.
Minimum age: 16.
Certificate issuing criteria: RYA Day Skipper practical course completion certificate.
Format: This course is based on the water.
Ratio: Maximum (4:1) students to instructor, (5:1) in exceptional circumstances.
Base: Procida Island.
Included in the fee: Accommodation onboard, fuel, insurance while aboard, reference books.
Not included in the fee: Mooring fees outside of our base in Procida, food, RYA logbook G-158 (if you do not have it already). -
