RYA Competent Crew

A course for the complete beginner that teaches personal safety, seamanship & sailing skills

  • This RYA Competent Crew course is for beginners and those who would like to become active crew members
    rather than just passengers. By the end of the course you should be able to steer, handle sails, keep a lookout,
    row a dinghy and assist in all the routines. Special attention will be given to safety procedures at sea.

    Required experience: None.
    Duration: 5 days.
    Recommended age: 12 (with parents if under 18).
    Certificate issuing criteria: Able to steer, handle sails, keep a lookout, row a dinghy and assist in all the routine.
    Format : This course is based on the water.
    Ratio: Maximum (4:1) students to instructor, (5:1) in exceptional circumstance
    Place: Procida island.
    Included in the fee: Accommodation onboard, fuel, insurance while aboard, reference books.
    Not included in the fee: Mooring fees outside of our base in Procida island, food, RYA logbook G-158 (if you do not have it already).
