This course provides a short introduction to sail cruising for novices

  • The course takes place on board. It will begin with basic knowledge of the sailing boat: hull, live/dead work, deck, mast
    and sails, use of the steering compass. Hints on the engine. Sailing gaits and tuning.
    Use of the rudder. Hints on "International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea" (COLREGs).
    At the end of the course you will be a crew member, aware of what is going on; able to carry out the simplest orders from the captain. If necessary, in familiar waters and under safe conditions, you will be able to replace the captain at the helm
    for short stretches not involving special manoeuvres.

    Minimum age: 12 years (accompanied by parents if under 18).
    Minimum experience required: none
    Course duration: 1 or 2 days only at weekends
